Scarlet Witch sample page for my portfolio, where this time I also redesigned the characters myself (Scarlet Witch and the Guardsman).  The page comes from Vision and the Scarlet Witch #1 (1985) written by Steve Englehart.  And because it’s kind of silly, here’s a version with the original 80’s dialog and sound effects. PCHOOMAA!

Based off my earlier concept that 616 Jean is dumped back on Earth by the Phoenix and is pissed at her younger self, Hope, Emma, the Phoenix Five. But bestie Storm is on hand with a kristaferanka outfit with a kevinwada twist to show she’s still HBIC

This is Simply Stunning. Probably most beautifully modern interpretation of Jean Grey that I’ve ever seen. Strong, sensual, fashion-forward, with the air of a woman who’s been through some shit, but is too classy to bring it up. And now she’s back to reclaim her name. When daveyjhey first showed me this, I told him I was waiting to re-blog it, because I couldn’t find the right words to describe how much I loved it. But I think Jean herself says it best:
"In my worst nightmare…I’m just myself. Not The Phoenix. Not Madelyne Pryor. Not even Marvel Girl. I’m just Jean Grey- One of the most powerful psi’s on the planet! The frightening thing is, in my dream, I’m not afraid to lose myself in my mutant ability. I cut loose. Completely.”    (Uncanny X-Men #300)

Literally the sweetest reblog. Can’t describe the feeling I felt seeing someone get the concept for this redesign so completely from a bit of explanation and the drawing itself. I’ve had this in my mind for a while now based off the glorious style of X-gods Kevin Wada and Kris Anka and I’m so glad they saw it on insta. Thanks again!
